GOLD STANDARD FORENSIC ALS TECHNOLOGY
High intensity dual-colour Crime-lite
Crime-lite® 42S
Using a simple 3-way control the examiner is able to alternate between two narrowband wavelengths or to use all 16 LEDs in combination to provide high-intensity wideband illumination. The ability to detect evidence under a selection of wavebands from a single source increased the chances of locating evidence and allows forensic investigators to reduce search times.
Applications
Blood Spatter
Blood on black fabric
As blood absorbs all light in the bandwidth of 300-500nm, stains and spatter marks will appear black against light coloured backgrounds or on surfaces that fluoresce
under UV, Violet or Blue light.
Bruising and Bite Marks
UV illumination
UV illumination penetrates skin more deeply than visible light making it possible to see underlying bruising and bite marks beneath the surface of the skin.
Body Fluids
Semen on underwear
Body fluids including semen, sweat, saliva and urine are of high value to forensic investigators as a vital source of DNA, and can all be seen to fluoresce brightly under UV, Violet and Blue illumination.
Bone & Tooth
Bone & Tooth on soil
Even the smallest fragments of bone and tooth left at a crime scene will fluoresce under Blue, Blue/Green and/or Green illumination.
Hair
Hair on bloody fabric
Some human and animal hair will fluoresce brightly under Violet and/or Blue illumination.
Fibres
Fibres on Carpet
Fibres can often provide a vital link between a suspect and crime scene or item of evidence, with many high-profile prosecutions having rested upon the discovery of a single fibre. The entire range of wavelengths can be used in the detection of fibres.
Gunshot Residue
Gunshot Residue
The presence of GSR on a surface or clothing can be used to link a firearm to a suspect or crime scene, while the analysis of its pattern of dispersal can help investigators identify where a shot was fired and in which direction. GSR and other explosive residues will fluoresce within the Blue–Blue/Green wavebands and also in the near infrared (700–1100nm).
Accelerants
Petrol on white fabric
Traces of accelerant found at arson scenes may indicate whether a fire was accidental or started with intent. Flammable liquids including Petrol, Diesel and Methylated Spirits can all be seen to fluoresce under Blue, Blue/Green and Green illumination.
Shoeprints
White illumination
Intense white light applied at an oblique angle can greatly improve the contrast of shoeprints left at the crime scene. The ideal search tool for this application is the /crime-lite-82lCrime-lite 82L.
Drug Residues
UV – Violet illumination
Traces of some illicit drugs (including Cocaine, Amphetamines, Ecstasy tablets and LSD) can be seen to fluoresce under UV illumination. How much fluorescence is emitted from drugs under examination depends upon the purity of the drug and the additional ingredients that it has been cut with.
Goggles and Lens Filters:
Never Miss a Trace
Lightweight, interchangeable, and with anti-glare functionality, PRO VISION Viewing Goggles and Lens Filters provide a simple but effective upgrade to existing fluorescence viewing filters. Included with each of our Crime-lite 82S PRO kits, this significant upgrade will help examiners to detect more evidence through improved Fluorescence Contrast Examination.
PRO VISION PERFORMANCE
Crime-lite PRO VISION evidence viewing goggles and camera lens filters are designed with the single purpose of maximising the visibility of evidence for improved detection and photography under high-intensity illumination. All PRO VISION goggles and lenses include an anti-glare dichroic coating to prevent auto-fluorescence whilst reflecting Crime-lite illumination back onto the subject being examined.
PRO VISION CONVENIENCE
PRO VISION viewing lenses attach (via magnets) to a lightweight and comfortable goggle headset allowing the user to quickly switch between viewing wavebands on the fly. Using the magnetic quick-change lens system enables the examiner to switch between viewing wavebands quickly and easily, leading to a more efficient evidence search.
