SUMMARY:XXII Symposium for the Study of Underdrawing and Technology in Painting
DESCRIPTION:Date: 11 January to 14 January 2024 \nLocation: Brussels\, Belgium \nVisit Event Website \nFrom the organisers: \nThe XXIII Symposium will provide a scientific forum for the presentation of new technical studies in art history\, concentrating on art from the Middle Ages and Early Modern period (1400-1600). The main theme will be cross-media perspectives in the context of artistic materials\, working methods\, and the dissemination of concepts. Similarities in design might indicate cultural\, social\, geographical\, or chronological connections in paintings\, drawings\, prints etc. as well as links across other artistic media. Recent developments in viewing platforms\, artificial intelligence and machine learning can offer alternative possibilities in this research field\, stimulate contacts and the exchange of experience\, and form a bridge between art and science. \nAfter the successful Van Eyck Studies (2012)\, Imaging Utopia (2017)\, Bruegel Success Story (2018)\, and Alla Maniera (2021) symposia\, the 23rd Symposium of Underdrawing and Technology in Painting will be held in Leuven and Brussels and will coincide with the exhibition “Dieric Bouts. Creator of Images” in Museum M. The conference aims to stimulate networking and provides a unique opportunity for professionals to share knowledge and experience on important cases. It also provides a forum for the discussion of innovative developments in tools and methodologies for the study of artworks. \nWhat equipment will we be showcasing? \n \nVSC 900Our latest QDE Workstation \n \nVSC 8000 HSOur flagship QDE Workstation \n \nVSC PDI+Perfectly Capture Documents \nWho’s attending? \n \nPatrick van VilsterenRegional Sales Manager

SUMMARY:California Association of Crime Laboratory Directors (CACLD)
DESCRIPTION:Date: 12 September to 13 September 2023 \nLocation: 320 N. Flower Street\, Santa Ana\, CA\, USA \nVisit Event Website \nFrom the organisers: \nThe California Association of Crime Laboratory Directors grew out of its predecessor organization\, the Criminalistics Management Association (CMA). It was founded in the 1960’s by many of the same criminalists who founded the California Association of Criminalists. \nThe founders of the organization believed that the growing managerial complexity of criminalistics and forensic science required a different skill set than was used as a practicing bench-level criminalist. \nThe growth and sophistication of the CMA grew into the California Association of Crime Laboratory Directors. \nRegular membership is offered to all those who manage forensic laboratories or supervise forensic scientists. Others who support the objectives of the CACLD are urged to join as affiliate members. \nThe current membership includes all the public and most of the private forensic science laboratories in California. Other members include crime laboratory managers from Arizona and Nevada\, as well as academic members.
